What is WARM?

WARM is a movement to raise awareness and educate People Leaders -including HR, Wellbeing, EDI, OH- about substance use, addiction and recovery in the workplace. WARM is also designed to support Employee Resource Group (ERG) Leads or Sponsors by providing them with expert content, learning opportunities, and safe spaces to build confidence and spark informed dialogue.

At its core, WARM gives People Leaders and ERG Leads access to clear, non-judgemental, evidence-based learning created by highly experienced, professionally registered clinicians in the addiction treatment field.  This is complemented by insight from lived experience, adding relevance and real-world perspective to everything we do.

Why It Matters and Who Benefits

Workplaces are often the last place where addiction is talked about, yet they are one of the most important environments for early support.

Employees are more likely to seek appropriate support, whether for their own needs or because they are affected by a loved one’s addiction

Organisational policies

Organisational policies may set expectations but they don’t build understanding or reduce stigma.

Recovery ERGs

Recovery ERGs are rare and few employees feel safe enough to self-disclose.

This Isn’t Just a Wellbeing Issue

Substance use at work is

A leadership issue

A culture issue

An equity issue

A belonging issue

That’s Where WARM Comes In

WARM helps organisations:

Recovery belongs in every workplace and the first step is understanding what addiction and recovery truly mean.
